This magnetic door alarm reduces unauthorized exits and entrances by visual and audio alerts.

These brightly colored strips help to prevent accidents by directing residents away from potential hazard areas. Promotes resident privacy. Placed across a room doorway, this brightly colored strip often stops the cognitively impaired wanderer from entering another resident’s room. It also acts as a reminder for the resident inside a room not to leave. Secured with hook and loop or magnet, the Stop-Strip is not a physical barrier, so it may be used as part of a restraint reduction program. The stop strip barrier is available with or without an alarm.

Easy to Use
Based on the model chosen, the stop strip is affixed to the door with either hook and loop or magnets. Procedure A discusses how to apply the unit using hook and loop, Procedure B discusses how to apply the strip using magnets and Procedure C covers application of the alarm unit.

Procedure A- Hook & Loop Attachment
Peel the backing off the two Velcro pressure-sensitive strips and attach them to the left and right sides of the door frame or to the wall on either side of the door frame. These strips should be positioned at mid-height on the door frame or on the wall next to the door frame.
Important: Attach the pressure-sensitive strips to the corridor side of the door frame or wall so that the Stop-Strip is outside the room.

Procedure B - Magnetic Attachment
The magnet version only works on steel door frames. Simply affix the magnet to the door frame at mid height. Note this version will not work on wooden or aluminium door frames.

Procedure C - Alarm Attachment
1. Install the 9-volt battery. The battery compartment is on the side of the alarm unit. The Stop Strip alarm system includes a long and short Velcro strip. Peel the backing off the short strip and attach it to the left side of the door frame. Attach the long strip to the right side of the door frame. Strips should be attached at the resident's shoulder height.
2. Attach the alarm unit to the short strip on the left side of the door.
3. Attach the Velcro material on the door strip to the long strip on the right side of the door. Bring the door strip across the door and attach the magnet sewn into the door strip to the strip on the alarm unit.
4. Set the alarm volume by moving the switch to the Hi or Low position.

Easy Care
The stop strip with hook and loop only, can be laundered. Wash at temperatures not to exceed 180°F (82°C). Models with the magnetic attachment should be wiped clean with soap and water or a mild disinfectant.

Caution
Test the Stop Strip alarm before each use.
Move the switch to the Hi position and remove the magnet.
If the alarm is weak or does not sound, replace the 9-volt battery.
Do not place the Stop-Strip across fire and emergency exit doors.
